Hello Guys, I've been wondering which Preamp is better to sample to the MPC. I would like to know your opinion regarding the quality of the MPC's preamp against the Preamp on a Digidesign Mbox.

apparently the d/a converters of the mpc are poor, but i mean i'm really not complaining. when i sample something directly into the 1000 i am happy with the sound. however, if you want to be sure, you could use a dj mixer w/ digital outs and sample that way.

I allways sample with the digital input when possible, but the dilema comes when I have to sample analog.

Lately what I do is, record the analog sample to Protools using the preamps on the MBOX and then I transfer the sample to the MPC using the digital output. But if the preamp on the MPC is better, I rather sample straight to the MPC and save more time. That's why I would like to know which of the boxes has the better preamp.

If you are concerned, you can always record your vinyl to pc through a good sound card. Then transfer everything to your media card. I'd be more concerned about what comes out of your mpc. I use spdif (digital) and it makes a pretty noticeable difference. Some people resample inside their mpc but i've heard from a few people that it sounds worse than spdif. Haven't tried it myself though.
