Hi,

Where does the best deal on a 1k in the UK? Anywhere do it for £500 or less?

Also is anyone's local store doing an ex-demo 1000 of which i could ring and purchase?

thanks.

I doubt you'll get a black one for under £500 but maybe the red/blue one.
The only difference is the colour and the black one already has the latest OS installed, but you can does this yourself in ten minutes.

My advice would be to ring digital village www.dv247.com

I bought a 2500 from them and it was £160 less than list price. The discount wont be so big on the 1000 but it's worth calling them and asking for the best price.

Dont go for the prices on the website, you have to ring them for the best deal.

Find the cheapest online price you can - dv or whatever - probably somewhere else - maybe absolute .
do your research.
then print out the quote and go to an established shop like Turnkeys and get it pricematched - they all do it.
make sure the machine is in your hands when you pay for it.
that's what i'd do anyway.

Nah bro trust me, you'll get a better deal by ringing them up and haggling with them. If i'd have gone with the best internet price at the time i'd have paid £950 instead of £790.

Even the bloke in Digi Village told me to always ring them for future purchases as they've almost always got some movement over the list price.

2500 listed on digital village's website: £799. 1000 black £699 bit of a discrepancy there i think. considering you rang and got £9 knocked off, what room does one have on the 1k?

Well i have had mine around 4 months now, trust me they were listed for at least £950 everywhere.

Most people at the time were picking them up for over £900 because they either bought of the net or didnt haggle

Just haggle.

Turnkey will screw you when it comes to warranty. They mess people about in after sales. DV are ok though.

turnkey were ok with me, i got a motu 828 mkii and when i opened the box, there was no power lead and one of the rack ears had been taken off and the little bolts that held it on were put back in crooked. by that time i'd already opened the manual which was sealed in cellophane. so i took it back and the guy was all like 'yeah all these motu boxes get opened to swap the power leads over, so that's normal' and i was shit, they're not going to let me swap it, but then he said, 'was the manual wrapped when you opened the box?'. i said no of course, and he said 'well it must have been opened then' and gave me another one. you gotta practice the innocent expression on your face, and you're set. :D

Not true, they're exactly the same apart from a different coloured case :!:

So how much did Digital Village actually knock off the MPC2500 then? You got it for £790 when it was listed at £950?

edit: ignore that. I just read the thread again. my bad
