i think the black ones are nice, but the grey ones i have are very old and abused. maybe its just cause there new that they feel thicker.

I have the 2kxlse2, my red/white pads are softer than the normal stock grey ones..

Softer as in better or worse softer? I want to put red pads on my 2500.

They are softer to the touch. I had the normal grey/white 2kxl, then I saw this special edition, tried it out, and I loved the pads softness more. Softer as in better, really, It's not like you have to concentrate on noticing the difference, it's very apparent right from the first touch.
Don't know about the other se's but my pads are deff softer as in better.
To me that is.
No my regular grey/white pads weren't worn out or anything, the machine still brand new, was less than 5 months old.
