Well it's been in MPCs long before the 1000 came along. Maybe you would have gotten more responses in production techniques

yeaaahh, step edit is where the fine, precision programming comes into play. and to think a lot of ppl don't use it.

I bought one of those mpc dvds from canada
in hopes they would touch on step edit tips
but they did not
anyone know of a video tutorial online

that was a good tip on the arppeggiator. works a treat. just a quick question...what does altering the 'tc value %: 100' actually affect?

Without checking the manual, I believe this is to do with note duration. Say TC is set to 8th notes, then if you have 100% dialled in then each note you input will play for a whole 8th note (100%). If you lower this to say 50%, then this would shorten the note lenght to a 16th.

This is handy when step sequencing one note after the other (say for arppeggiation) because it will create a small gap between the notes to seperate them. Otherwise the notes will just run into into each other and it will be hard to hear where the divide is unless you have some high envelope settings applied.

wait just a damn minute here! PLEASE tell me this does what i think it does, alters the strength of the timing correct? I've been wishing for this as i can do it in Logic but not on the 1000. THis will make my day if someone can confirm it.

That would be useful but it's not what it does.

The setting of the TC% field lets you say how long each step entered note will be, expressed as a percentage of the current timing correct value. The note position is still gonna be set according to the Now field.

i'm not. only a month and a half in. but doing swell so far.

step edit looks more confusing that what it probably is.

I use step & seq edit all the time. It really gets my creative juices flowing. It's like the most essential part of of sequencing on the MPC. For example, you can make techno and minimal loops more interesting by making tiny little changes to them.

It definitely looks worse than it is bro. I was confused with it before but i'm getting to grips with it now
