Apart from the obvious bug fixes, what NEW features would you like to see in the next update.

The main ones i'm thinking of at the moment are really just to help with the workflow.

Sample scrolling: i mentioned these in the 1k forum earlier

1 - When the sample name is higlighted in the sample trim menu, you can hit a pad with a corresponding letter to jump to the samples that start with that letter. for example, hitting pad 4 will go to the samples that start with G. Hit it twice in succession and you go to samples starting with H etc etc
Actually, make it so that you hold shift and a pad so that you dont have to press more buttons to demo the sample

2 - When you are in the trim or program menu on sample A, and want to get to sample Z, it would be much easier if you could just scroll backwards instead of having to scroll through the whole alphabet, if you get me.

3 - Ability to assign amp/filter envelopes to all or multiple pads at once. Maybe have a screen like the track mute screen where you can select the samples you want to add the envelopes to, then hit do it. Or have an 'all' option to assign them to all pads in the selected program

4 - Ability to copy and paste selections of a sample to the end of another sample. So you want the attack of a kick a and the tail of kick b. Go to kick a, select the attack, copy, paste it to a temporary editing screen. Do the same with the tail of kick b. scroll around and edit them so that you have the perfect drum, hit a button to join the two samples to permanently creat your new kick.

5 - Simult. Separate filters for each pad would be so nice...

Add to the list and feel free to tell me workarounds if something i've mentioned can already be done

Besides obvious 'bug' fixes........I have alot of ideas..but I will keep it short to my top 5 (for the moment).

1. Auto assign samples to a program upon loading. Currently, its easy to load 64 samples into the 2500s RAM. But its time consuming to assign these samples to a program. I would do back flips for this function.

2. Independant EQ per pad/sample and programs

3. Sample editing (Re-sampling...to lower/higer sample or bit rates, coverting stereo to 2 mono, and 2 mono to stereo ). Doesn't the XL have these functions?

4. 2 MIDI channels per track like the MPC 3000

5. Data compatibility w/ all Akai S/MPC formats, and Roland/Emu CD Roms.

Number 2 i would love if i understand you correct. Do you mean like having a separate EQ for each channel in the mixer, just like an outboard mixer? Did older MPCs have this function?

I'm just playing about with it now and it would be so nice not to have to resample when you wanna change EQ settings for another sample...

I wasn't even thinking that way...but hell yeah, Akai can add it to the mixer section or they can add it to the filter section. Give me 4 bands of EQ.

If you sample with the 2K XL and try to assign that new sample to a pad, it lets you hear what sound is on that pad so that you don't change the sound by assigning the new sample to the pad. But when you sample with the 2500 and the assign screen comes up you can hit all the pads and you can't hear whats there. AKAI You need to FIX THIS!!!! It's messing up my groove when i am sampling!

Man, them akai ****** need to add that bars pitch feature like on the xl that detect tempo bullshit is not useful at all. What a waste of time. I mean why the **** would I want to use detect tempo when that shit could caculate
it for me. Man that shit is a massive time saver.

Hey here's my wish list!
1. EQ in the mixer section would be amazing!!! :D
2. Sampling or Re-Sampling at different bit rates 8,12,16 Bit would rock them drumz sideways!
3. Seperate filters per layer would be mind blowing to get them kicks thump'n!
4. Some kind of cross fade or smoothing on loop point to get nice seemless loops! :)
Any of these extras in my opinion would make this box into a dream machine!

I actually like to have fixed start and end points I can scroll to fast without having to look at the sample name. Then fine-searching from there if I know my sample is somewhere near the start or end.

The samples aren't sorted alphabetically anyway, are they?

Can youy check my thread here please and explain your exact setup and equipment used.

http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=51039

I would like to try and replicate the problem, see if we can maybe find a solution.

Cheers

- Load individal songs ( with their samples) without wiping the memory
- a fast load fuction/pad - that you can assign to wich song/folder to load next (for live performance use)

1. when in the main screen........the option to hold down the rec button and step in a pad. Basically just like the mpc2000xl. That way you an use the step buttons in main screen then just hold the rec button down and enter the pad in so you dont have to go to grid mode or step edit mode.

2. auto advance when assinging samples in program mode. Basically when you assing sample 1 to a pad, when you hit the next pad sample 2 comes up, the next pad sample 3, etc..........................JUST like on the mpc4000

The ability to link pads together upon being hit. So you hit one and it triggers another. Basically like layering, but with pads or seperate mixer for each layer of sample.

I would also like Akai to include a magical elf that chills and smokes with you while you make beats. He can give you advice and help you creatively.

That's about it for me.

Oh and maybe a tempo finder that actually works.
