Tracking beats through Midi using acid pro

Trying to track MPC tracks through midi using Acid?

How do you proceed what audio interface, midi interface, connections...?
More details please, we're no mindreaders.

Midi connecter to USB.

midi only sends and receives signals not audio
so yes you can sync the mpc with midi through aicd but that will only generate midi data...
you also would need and audio interface(fullduplex sound card) to acompany the midi data being transfered

usb is capable of transfering both but its usualy one or the other not both at the same time through the same usb port

Mixer, yes, no, what brand, model number?

Audio interface, yes, no, what brand, model number?

Midi interface (maybe internal w/ audio interface), yes, no, what brand, model number?

Audio cables, MIDI cables, yes, no, what brand, model number?

I got an audio interface setup. Im just clueless on knowing how to setup midi within acid, and also on the MPC for tracking if that makes any sense.

Here we go again:

Audio outputs of MPC go in audio inputs of audio interface of computer. It's strange how this logic seems to be wasted on a lot of people.

Using the Acid program as master in the recording procedure do following:

Connect midi output of computer to midi input A of the MPC. Set Acid software to MTC master with XX frames (don't ask me how to do that I don't use Acid nor do I have a manual). In the MPC sync screen set sync mode to MTC on midi input A and use the same XX value as you specified in Acid for the frame rate in the MPC screen. (This is explained in the MPC manual).

To record a sequence or song from you MPC in ACID do following:

In Acid set the desired BPM and press press the press the record button. If everything is set up correctly pressing the play button will start the recording procedure and will also start the MPC playing in sync with the acid program at the same BPM as set in ACID.

Just one last question have you already read the ACID and MPC manuals? It seems like you don't grasp absolute basics like MIDI and Audio being 2 different things. My advice is to start reading up on these basics.

Don't use MTC use Midi Beat clock. Using MTC assumes that both acid and the MPC's tempos are identical. Usually this is not the case. They can drift over time because it depends on the clock in the hardware. ie. the computer's sound card.

MTC is a positional reference whereas Midi beat clock is a tempo reference AND a positional reference (if the song position pointer is on).
