Before the OS, if i set the loop to off in the main sequence screen and started to record my sequence it would carry on recording until i pressed stop.

But now it only records the amount of bars that are set in the Bars field.

Quick explanation:

Before, i set the loop to off, hit record+play start and recorded a sequence 16 bars long. The number of bars would increase automatically until i pressed stop.

Now, i start recording again and it will only record for the number of bars that are set in the bars field.

Is this a bug or am i missing an option somewhere that needs to be changed?

Just looked in the manual on page 19, it says ths:

Extending the sequence length automatically

Usually, the length of a sequence is set based on
the value of the Bars field in the MAIN page. However,
when you are recording/overdubbing with
the Loop field set to OFF, the length of a sequence
will be extended automatically. For example, when
the Bars field is set to 2, If you start recording with
the loop field set to OFF, the recording will continue
after second bar until you press the [STOP]
key. And the number of the bar when you actually
pressed the [STOP] key will be set as the new length
for the sequence. This is useful when you do not
know the length of the song.
Tips: When you press the [PLAY START] key when the First bar
is not 1, the MPC2500 will start the playback from the bar set in
the First bar field instead of from the beginning of the sequence.

Yep?!

So does yours do that or not?

Mine does not automatically extend the sequence length when set to OFF.

Mine does extend the length when I set Loop Off. You can open a window on that field too, maybe there's an option messed up.

Hmmm, i might re-install the OS then.

When you press window it's just the options to loop between certain bars in a sequence.

Did a factory reset and it's ok now but i cant visibly see where any options were changed...

Strange

By the way, does Factory Reset reset to the last OS that was installed, or to the one the unit was delivered with?

It just changes global settings ie

TC values
step edit optins
pad sensitivity
master level
Autoload
screen contrast etc etc

Full list is on page 115 of the manual, i'm too lazy to type them all out, lol

The OS stays as the latest one installed.

Yep, no problems but i still haven't found out what made it go wrong in the first place?

I certainly didn't change anything and couldnt see any visible options changed before i did the factory reset.
