So, why does the mpc 60 cost nearly as much as the 3000? Also, Does the 60 have enough memory do doa few loops? The 3000 clearly has more to offer so why is the 60 costing almost as much?

the 60 is older then the 3k more vintage , and if you have a mint condition older machine which is maxed out that makes the purchase easier for the consumer because they don't have to go searching for all these extra peripherals. There is a uniqueness to the mpc 60's 12 bit sound which some people value and some people don't. A maxed out 3k limited edition , 3k , and then 60 is probably the order for the maximum value each individual mint condition maxed out mpc model would have.

I hear there is a compression algorithm that extends the 60's sample time to 57 seconds? Thats not too bad.

the 60 does have compression, but ive noticed that it will mess up and downgrade certian samples to the point that you wont do it

also, once you compress your samples, you cant change the tuning on them.

the sh!t is discontinued.. people can ask for anything they want
you either need to wait and watch out for a local 3k to pop up.. or pay the dough and get one from analog japan or somwhere similar

MPC 3000s can still fetch $1400 plus. MPC 60s usually go for $800 or less.
