Iomega Parallel External Zip 100 Drive vs MPC 2000

Hello 1 and all, brought Iomega Parallel External Zip 100 Drive, 2 of them for my MPC 2000 as my external zip 100 plus was giving me trouble. Kept on telling me that I didn't have enough memory on my zip disk when I went to save new samples even for short arrangement that I had originally saved on floppies.

Unfortunately, when you hook the zips to the 2000 and turn the wheel to find scsi 5 from floppy mode, it says wait and then freezes.

Did I buy the wrong Zip drive? Does the fact that it is parallel mean anything?

If so, can I only buy external zip 100 plus that have the switches at the back? am I that limited?

Can't us a parallel Zip drive. Gotta use the SCSI zip drive with the termination switch on the back. I suggest you take it off before you mess something up.

Can anybody explain why parallel don't complement the 2000 whereas the one with the termination switches at the back, do?

because the ones with the switches are scsi and your mpc rocks a scsi connector not a parallel connector.

Thanks for that - the quest continues. I'm hoping I'm not the only one who has done what I've done so I can stop feeling like The Omega Man when it comes to buying the wrong zip drive

Trust me sweetie u aint. I could pull up 5+ threads of people who thought the same or did the same.

be careful hooking up a parallel drive to a scsi connection - you can blow the SCSI fuse on the MPC and thats big bucks to replace.
