Midi Thru Function ...

Is it possible to route an incoming midi signal (eg midi in I > master keyboard) to an external device (midi out A), whilst the pads are still controllng a selected program with the mpc! .. so that you can basically play 2 instruments at the same time? In the midi routing page I couldn”t find anything that allows me to do that!
And I got some advice from a 2kxl user to change my midi thru settings (should set them to “AS PLAYED”!) on my mpc! Does the mpc support midi thru at al? If so how and where? would be great, if anyone knows, please ...

did u ever figure out how to play 2 instruments or even 2 channels at the same time using midi thru?

i too have looked through all the midi routing settings to see if I could midi thru multiple midi channels or even multiple midi inputs?

for example for a basic setup like this:
In A - midi controller (channels 1,2,3)
In B - drum machine/external sequencer (channel 10)
Out A - synth a
Out B - synth b

is it possible to setup midi mapping in the 4k to do this:
InA-Out A,channel 1 - synth a
InA-Out B,channel 1 - synth b
InA-Out B,channel 2 - synth b
In B-Internal Sampler, channel 10

on the 2k, I remember this being on the sequencer page or maybe it was the midi instruments page. is there similar page or function on the 4k?

playin 2 instruments at the same time doesn't seem to be a strength of the 4k!
what i did, was playin my external synth with the pads and the drums with my midi keyboard! but that's crap, cause (for me) the pads are supposed to control the drums and the keyboard the synth! i just got it to work the other way round! ... and didn't use it a lot!
there you just have to route the pads to midi out A (where your synth is connected)! in os 1.45 you can't even choose to route it to B,C or D! so thats it! but for recording what you're playin with the pads (on the synth) you have to rearrange the midi routing! its really not very useful!
if you have a master keyboard with midi in and out it should work! i haven't!
... i bought a midi merger (about 60,-Euro, $!)! can now play both! but since i would need the merger also in another cicumstance i'd just be great if i could route midi in 1 to midi out A! midi in 2 to out B, ...! as you can do for example in logic!
what u could try is to try something completely different! run the midi keyboard in your synth (master) and from its out to the in of the mpc (slave)! ... i did not even try that! the approach didn't convince me even if it should work! please let me know bout your experiences with this last approach and if u find any other solution to this!
