What MP to buy?

I have NEVER owned an MP. But I have a friend selling his MPC 2000 Classic. It is maxed out.

He wants 600 for it. Would this be worth the money? Or should I get something better for a few more dollars?


Any input would be great. And please NO BIASED opinions, I need some solid info to base my decision off of.

I have the 2kxl model and paid more than that for mine. All it had was a 100mb zip drive. To me it was well worth it. It does what i need it to do and i fortunately had the loot for it at the time.

If its maxed out and everything is in working order, i think its worth it. But remember, if and when something goes wrong wiff the machine don't hold your friend accountable.

When I had a 2000, I paid 500 for it with maxed memory and stmpe upgrade, but no outs. If it has outs, its well worth it, if not, you could probably get it cheaper.

600 is a lot for a classic... id say 400 is closer to the mark. When you say it is maxed - what exactly does that mean. If it just means maxxed memory - well you can buy that of ebay for $10 and do the job yourself in 5 mins flat.

I really think the 8 outs are overated unless you are playing live into a big desk, or have a lot of outboard or an 8 channel soundcard for your DAW.

99% of the time the stereo outs work just fine.
