Limited Sample Time.

Hello 1 and all,

Use to sample to my heart's content although, of course I never use all the music I sampled via my zip drive. (I ain't P. Diddy / Trackmasterz).

Now for some reason, My 2000 is only going up to 1.7 seconds when I do my thing which is limiting my plans for a beat to say the least.

As Kris once said - "Why is that?!!

Does anybody know how to rectify?

The available sampling time depends on the value of memory that is buildt into the MPC.
To verify the memory amount that is available, enter the SAMPLE menu, select the sampling time term with the cursor, then hit the OPEN WINDOW button.
You may now see how much memory is buildt into your MPC and ho much of it is available to hold further samples.

If your MPC doesn´t have 32 MB installed, you better upgrade your MPC´s memory with two 16 MB RAM modules.

Read your manual for further info.

Thanks for that, my problem is I have had my 2000 since '99 and it's never given me this trouble when it comes to sampling time. Now, like I said, 1.7 seconds it will only allow me. Why now?

Maybe the MPC doesn´t recognize it´s memory chips anymore, so you should try to take them out and set them back into their socket.
Try to exchange them against new ones if that doesn´t help.

But...
1.7 seconds seems very few, even when sampling in stereo.
Do you attempt to sample in stereo or in mono?
How much does the available time change when you switch from mono to stereo sampling?

Stereo / Mono - 1.7 seconds.

I turn that wheel round like I'm playing the Wheel of Fortune but to no avail - 1.7 seconds. I haven't knocked my MPC, dropped it or anything like that it just switched on me like a fairweather friend!

Well, try to exchange the memory chips and to make a software update.
Maybe the operating system has been damaged.

Have you tried to load sounds that exceed the 1.7 seconds?

Dukelido - can't get past 1.7 seconds of sampling time in order to sample sounds that are longer - that's the point!

I understand your point.
I was just curious if your MPC only doesn´t sample longer than 1.7 seconds, or if it also does not load sounds that are all together longer than that amount.
