ive got a problem, i got a mpc2000xl and it had no memory at first, i had memory installed in it 2 sticks of 16mb, but when i go into sample, my sample time is still at zero and it wont change. can anyone help me out on this one? also ive noticed and wonder if this could be my problem, but on the mainboard about a inch from the scsi on main board to the left in this picture
http://www.mpc2000xl.com/mainboard.htm , but yeah there is a plugged in chip(right above in the picture where at the bottom says "midicase.com" a inch above the ".com") now on my mainboard the chip is not there, its just a open slot for a chip to be plugged in, what is this chip? and would it be the root to my problem with the memory? lemme know, thanx folks

Zero memory means bad memory. Replace it.

The `missing` chip is the SMPTE option as described in another part of that site.
