MPC 2000 W/ S950 Or MFC42??????

Hey I just found a pretty good deal for an s950. I pretty much just want it for (12 bit) drums. I was wondering if anyone has experience with using the machine?????
1. Can I trigger sounds through my mpc2000 and still have it 12 bit???
2. Or should I just purchase the MFC42???? (and how well does that work)
Any input would be greatly apperciated

- you can trigger sounds by midi, through the S950, wich made your sounds being 12bit ( if they have been sampled by the S950) and having a little taste, while you still got the flexibility of the mpc2000 sequencer

-MF42 is a midi filtering kit, you can set up a lot of the mfc42 function with somegood midi programming (CC, and so on...)
mfc42 got filtering functions ( nootch, high pass, band pass, low pass), got an ADSR filter envellope, an lfo , TWO channel ( mono and one stereo). got some EQs ( hi and low, usefull sometime), a distortion effect and a phase shifter ( makes sounds rolling)

take a look at the simple manual of the mfc42 you will undertsand it quickly.

the S950 is a full sampler, the mfc42 just a filter, you cant really compare the both machine betwenn them.

I have a XL and a S 950.
It´s a good combination, they work well together.
The S 950 has a great work flow, once you learn it.
It´s easy and powerful, lets you choose your sample´s audio bandwidth stepless from 3.5 kHz to 19.2 kHz, x-fade sample merging, time-stretching (faster processing than on the XL), a better filter...

The XL has the ability to resample it´s samples in different bit depths (16, 12, and at different sample rates, but this can´t keep up with real 12 bit sampling, looks good on the spec sheet though.

I have an SP1200 and S950. I would get the S950 to go with your 2kxl. They are going for around $200/$250 these days and are always available on craigslist and ebay.

The filters are great and ease of use are pretty simple. I never used any sampler before that and just from going through the manual it was very easy.

200????? hell no! you can get them for like 80 nowadays man!

i have yet to see one that cheap but sh*t i guess they are cheaper than i've seen. either way, it's gonna be much cheaper (and more fun IMO) with the 950 over the mfc
