BUMP:
THESE EFFECTS:

# WAH---I WANT THE WAHHHHHH EFFECT THE MOST! WAHHHHH!
# Noise Gate
# Phaser
# Vibrato
# Strobe
# Doubler
# Envelope
# Pixelator
# Whammy
# Digital Delay
# Analog Delay
# Ping-pong Delay

I FEEL SO CHEATED WITH THE EFFECTS ON THE 2500--PLEASE ADD MORE AKAI!

Noise Gate...come on! Of course there's potential for more effects, but don't expect the box to do and have everything.

Phaser and Delay are already there. If I'm not mistaken, Vibrato can be achieved with the LFO? And why in the world would you have an Analog Delay in a digital sampler?

And why do you feel cheated by Akai? Didn't you know what effects the 2500 had before buying it? Is having effects the sole purpose of this machine?

Sorry if I sound like an ass.

Peace,
Stilo.

Copy and paste any section of a sequence with all the tracks to both a new seq as well as anywhere within a pre existing seq. I'm sick of the time sig trick.

I'm suprised more people don't mention this. Does the 4000 do this?

Also the sample combine feature in the wave edit view. Where you could take any highlighted section of a sample and insert it anywhere in another sample. The xl did this and i miss it a lot.

Akai needs to look at what is happening now. These are things sequencer programs and basic wave editors have been doing for years.

But these 2 are my biggest gripes.

Oh yeah, also a time marker in the wave view.

It can copy parts of a track and paste it to other tracks in the same or different sequences. But only one track at a time. It can also make copies of complete sequences. No other MPC can do what you are asking unless the 4000 has this function. I seriously doubt this MPC will ever have the full editing functions of a software based sequencer/DAW..especially with the size of the LCD screen.

Copying parts of a sample and pasting it to a different sample is a feature that other MPCs had that the is missing from this model.

Apparently the 4000 does all of these . Copy and paste all tracks from any section of a sequence dictated by bar beat tick into any other section of a sequence dictated by bar beat tick.

They also have a beat ruler in sample edit according to the current bpm.

Also these are not features that would be espically taxing on the 2500 and the size of the screen has absolutly nothing to do with anything discussed here. Again, these are feature you can find in a hex tracker program some 12 year old kid wrote in 1988!

It only has 100,000 and I know people say it doesn't make a difference but I believe it can. Why the downgrade in the first place.

To take it a step further, it would be amazing if they took the Roger Linn algorithms from the MPC 60/3000 and used those in the sequencer for the 2500. Its tough to deny the difference in swing. I doubt this would ever happen...

... backlash begin.

Here's my backlash.
I'd bet there's a hardware technical reason for the limited events. There's no other reason for them to have done it. I haven't run out yet so it's no big deal to me.

But the swing thing has been debunked many times. The MPC2500 swings the same. RL is over rated. He is a guitar player who hired good engineers. Akai has taken things much further than he ever thought of. He drove Linn into the ground with the 9000. That's why they went out of business.
If I wanted an MPC60 or 3000 I'd have one. I don't want one, it's all hype. The 4000 and 2500 eat the older models for lunch.
End of backlash.. that wasn't too bad now was it.

You may want to use a hex tracker program then  (or even a 4000).

I am not saying what you request isn't as important as the other silly and/or not so silly features we all have requested..by any means. Thinking about it more, I can see where this would come in handy....but not essential

I am just playing........

Essential difficult to define. These would just make sense. Could and would the majority of users utilise these functions? Given the opportunity i'm sure of it.

Also, the mpc's sequencer architecture is based off tracker principles so essentailly we all use one.

Maby your right though. Maby i'm trying to force the mpc to do things it wasn't designed to do. The xl was the first thing i learned on and i'm not too big on software sequencing (mostly out of ignorance) so i may be clinging to the whole hardware sequencer idea a little too hard.

If i'm right, the 2500 doesn't have any track mixer but you can only configure the mixer pad by pad.

A track mixer would be helpful.

I just want to be able to convert a sequence into a audio file then write it to cd all within the unit. Call me lazy but I dont care. Right now all we can do is write audio files and a sequence is not that till you mix it down to an outside source then do what ever you want, yes thats how it should be but the cd writing feature should do this to spit out rough drafts of your song play or Am I missing something? Naw. :?

I dont really understand you?

What's wrong with resampling the main outs to turn your sequence into a WAV file?

Are you sure that you know how to use your MPC 2500? From my understanding (or lack of understanding) of what you have written above, it appears you don't. The 2500 can burn audio CDs within the unit.

OK thanks for replying number one. I songplayed some sequences but when I go to the utility screen how do you write the sequence I cant figure it out?
