I just ordered one. I'm going digital forreal . Just $249 or something. Shit, you can sample digital(straight into you computer) or do it the traditional line method. The best of both worlds at a great price. According to the websites that I did resource on stanton.com, the signal is pristine; moreover the signal wouldn't degenerate like with analouge. Plus, you don't need an amp or some extra bullshit that would cost more than this turntable.

Kanye West just uses a crappy belt drive Gemini table. If you are just sampling, the features on most high end tables are just overkill. The digital out on the stanton str-80s and 100s is nice though.

get the numark ttx-1 Why? because you can use the bpm counter to help match your tempos to your drums-i.e. making using timestretch a little easier and more acuarate.
Using the pitch fader is also important for sampling vinyl stuff: Its better, and easier to alter the sample before you actually sample it. I do this all the time. I actaully do it to sort of "preview" what the sample will be like when i use it, or i can see if i can quickly pitch it to match a current sample, or if im gonna have to timestretch. ya know?
The pitch fader is used to match tempos between two turntables.
The technics have an 8% pitch fader. Meaning you can go up or down a maximum of 8%
the ttx-1 have an adjustable from 10%, 8%, 20%, or 50%
this is very nice if you want to really slow down your samples beforehand. and they have digital outs with keylock, so actually you can timestretch right on the turntable(this feature isnt too good though imo)

what I use:
2 black techs 1200 connected to phono of vestax 02 pro5 mixer. line out of mixer going into mpc Line IN. Sounds Great!!!!

What needlz do y'all use? I also use 2 1200's with a Ecler mixer going to the MP.
But i maybe use the wrong cartridge. I use the sure M 44-7 and i think it is too loud and best for live and gig use.
Maybe i just need a good Hi-Fi type ?

I use the cheapest gemini's dude xl-300. They came in a battle pack with the worlds cheapest wackest mixer some speakers and headphones for $360 Canadian brand spankin' new. MAADD Cheap, and I still get fairly good sound from them. Can't complain! The point being is that even if you go get the most expensive shit on the market it may not really make much of a difference. Check out my tracks. The samples for the most part don't sound like shit, and I use the worlds shittiest DJ tables.
Oh yeah and the shit comes with the wackest needles you ever did see. Their orange! It's like on some fisher price shit dude!

id go with anything from shure. Ive got the m35s, They are good for mixing, not really scratching. But they give me a good clear sound.
I think almost any will do, the more expensive ones are really just more durable. And you can replace the stylus on anyof em, so go for the most you can afford. If you dont scratch, dont waste your money on them.
