Record Collecting

wattup people, i really wanna get into record collecting cuz i love the idea that i could be one of very few, that has a certain record(its got nothing to do with selling records for lots of money) anyway my question is how do you all find out which records are rare,how many of them there is, etc. obviously i know about ebay, but any1 can say "this record is rare" and then charge £500 for a record. is there like a website that deals wit rare records or sumthing like that???? thnx peeps

there are several books out there that list rare, hard to find records

do a search on amazon.com, and go from there

the books are usually paperback, and thick as hell

www.popsike.com will answer all your questions. Go there before soul strut 'cos they're ruthless around there, especially to newbies!
Wax Poetics is also a good one.

But just look for music you like, and then learn about it. You'll get to the
"rare" stuff soon enough, don't get caught up looking for holy grails...

What popsike basically does is search and archive various online auctions (mainly ebay I think) and then give you the end price. It's obviously not fool proof, and it can be tricky getting around it sometimes but it's one of the best ways to really start looking.
