Protools or not - Read but please give your opinion

Get Pro Tools, if you have any problems pm me. I got that #### down. You dont need a Digi 002 or even a Digi 001. You can get the fullest without full midi, Pro Tools is all about arranging your audio, even if doing it one track at a time. Do your MIDI sequencing on the MPC, record it on Pro Tools. Then master and arrange....that simple.

You should check the Pro Tools forums and check the specs on you laptop to see if it meets the minimum requirements to run Pro Tools with M-box.  Even though the M-box doesnt have Midi i/o doesnt mean you cant do midi.  You will just have to buy a midi interface that will connect to your computer with USB cable.  I personally dont like the M-box concept,  but if you are going to be taking projects arround to different studios, PT is in just about every studio arround the world so you will have more options.[/color]

man have i been in and out of the digidesign web page...i check i think my computer makes the cut just the hairs on my chinny chin chin..Ok how do this one sound i do have a creative extigy that i was gona sale but it has midi in and out so  is this something that could help.....[/color]

Im not gona be going to other studios that much to the point having protools will matter to me like that. when i do go to a  studio i will bring the kids (mpc aka adam) and (motif aka eve) with me...anything i do on my computer is too make sure i got my product good enuff to present to buyers or just for my lil crew of rappers (Da wolves) i just want something thats gona give me good music as a finsh beat track or vocals and beat track....but i am gona check that forum tool.[/color]

yeah i am selling the 001 , probably end up with a mbox until i get enough dough. gotta say pro tools is ill and i would ride a mbox with some type of midi interface for a while till the 002 price goes down and my bank account goes up. i am through with the 001 , to much babbage hassle with it i am selling it for the mbox. at this point i am dying without pro tools [/color]

Steinberg Nuendo (mac or pc)
RME Hammerfall Cardbus (PCMCIA card)
RME Multiface (same I/O as Digi001 minus preamps, but with better converters and word clock)
Wavelab (PC) or Peak (Mac)

This is more expensive than a Digi 001, but you won't be limited by track count and Nuendo is neck and neck with PT.  I would also advise a Firewire hard drive for your audio (with the oxford 911 chipset...ezquest cobra for example).  I know a couple guys running this set up and it is SOLID!  I've worked on Nuendo and Pro Tools Mix systems and Nuendo is MUCH more user friendly and encourages productivity.  My 2 cents.[/color]

Could you elaborate a little? So you have a means to record with Pro Tools now with other hardware onto your laptop? I'm curious to know what's up![/color]

oh no you still need the digi design sound card as far as i know. i just mean my computer specs is up to the challenge to get pro tools for it thats all.[/color]

You can download a free version from the website while your saving up for the real thing.  The free version only has 8 tracks, and you cant record anything...you have to import wav files to work with.[/color]

this isnt true .. i dwnloaded the free version and it linked up with my soundcard without a problem... i made no adjustments .. also i want to add .. i cant imagine someone wanting to the the mbox $500... just to run a stereo mix of beats into a cpu..
imho u might as well get a stereo soundcard with good converters and pay less for some other software ...or use pro tools free with ur new sound card ...
