Yes you can sync them up so that you can record your tracks into Cubase and do your mixing in there, add effects etc. You'll need to read up on syncing via midi in both manuals but there's also this video to help you out:

thanks for the reply. I have used the usb cable to connect my mpc 2500 to my laptop, but then i am completly lost on how to sync cubase with the mpc. The only thing is that the cubase i bought was from the market so no instructions came with it.

The USB is only for data transfer so you're going to need some midi cables.

Have you got a midi interface? Usually you'd have to do something like connect midi out of the MPC to midi in of the interface, then midi out of the interface to midi in of the mpc.

You'll need to set up options in both on how to sync them, most likely using midi clock or MTC.

I just watched it myself, it explains everything better than me so props to sparq for making it.

He's using the Lexicon Omega audio/midi interface:

Yeah that's all you would need to sync but you still need a way to get your sounds into the computer. What soundcard do you have? Is it just the laptop built in sound card?

If so you're going to need something else really. Could do with more inputs etc.

I don't want to tell you to rush into anything because the interface is a pretty important part of your setup and you really need to sit down and decide what features you want, how many inputs/outputs etc etc

You also need to work out how much you can/want to spend.

Plus i'm not using a laptop so my choices will probably be quite a bit different as i'm not worried about portability etc. You're probably going to want either a firewire or USB interface.

Some you should look at though:

The Focusrite Saffire Range

Hercules 16/12fw

Yamaha Go44 or Go46

Motu Ultralite

And here are some USB interfaces

Take your time and do your research. You can find some helpful reviews here.

In the mean time just take some time getting to know the MPC and make some beats. The recording isn't really that big of a deal straight away as you can just save all your beats to PC and open them up in the future to edit/record etc

i did everything in the video one problem when i change my sound in mixer mode from st to 12 the sound doesnt sound the same as st for example i had a kick when i change it to 12 it sound a bit the same but with low quality and a bit of fuzzyness and thats on all sounds but worse with kicks and bass is it cus of my interface cus i have a edirol ua-20
i have a mpc 2500 connected straight to my midi interface then the interface is connected to the tape outs so i can hear it
also in the future i want to up grade a few things like go from laptop to a dell pc also whats a good interface as i have a mpc 2500,korg extreme proteus 2000,planet phat and a ub 1240fx mixer by behringer
