Grounding

I need some tips about grounding my equipment.
What kind of wires do i need and where do i put them in?

to be honest with you, this is how i did it.......

i have old wires and cables everywhere. well, i found an old speaker wire that I used to use a long time ago. all I did was stripped the wire on both ends, wrapped one end around the grounding "piece" (on the back of my turntable) and the other end (the bare wire) I taped to the side of my mixer, which im guessing is metal? it was a long shot, but it worked like a charm.

noise and hum = gone.

I used cables that came with the turntable and i hear a little buzz noise whenever I turn the cue sliders high. It pisses me off sometimes. But I gotta live with it. Maybe coz it's a cheap TT and a cheap mixer(both Gemini )

Since your pt01 has a built in phono preamp, it doesn't need to be grounded. If you are hooking it up to a mixer, use the line out from your turntable to a line in on your mixer. You don't need it to be grounded unlike a turntable which doesn't have a built in phono preamp.

lol thats funny you say gemini....i have a gemini tt02. its cheap as hell. but grounding it really got rid of that stuff. i had to move the ground wire around on the mixer until i heard NO noise anymore then I went ahead and taped the wire in that position and it worked great.

lol@gemini tables. their stuff seems to be geared more towards beginners.......

It doesnt have one do it? I dont recall seeing one on there.

Doesn't pt-01 have a built in pre-amp?? That's why you cant find a groundng screw..

I was about to say. I know I aint gone crazy. It has a built in preamp so it wouldnt need one.

what about grounding other stuff...like my computer or somethin

i have this annoying high pitched hum coming from the computer

recording is fine, its just the sound coming from the computer that sucks

audiophile 2496 soundcard, btw

i've switched cables and stuff like that, changed channels on my mixer, nothings working.

does wrapping the cables in aluminum foil help fend off interference?

is iron wire good for grounding?

hmm i dont know man. i never heard of that method. im curious about grounding some of my other things, too. i was thinkin about changing out all my old wires with brand new quality cables, but i was told that wont eliminate my problem totally. if anyone could hip me to that too, that would be tight....
