Hi
is it cheating to bang a sample into cubase, stretch it to tempo and bang it back into the MPC? I have tried until I am blue in the face with the MPC and I fully admit I am crap! I am ok with single notes but when it comes to loops and stretchin I am lost! I stopped doing it with reason cos I was not learning anything, because the computer was doin it all for me, but I am really struggling with time stretch and getting loops in time, I have tried the tap button but that is not happening, or rather I cant do it in time :S, is there a feature where I can key in the tempo? or is exporting a pre stretched sample from cubase a better option?

rule one, mpc book of truth: DO NOT EXPORT SAMPLES TO CUBASE, IT'S JUST SILLY.

lol j/k man, do whatever's easiest for you. working with the mpc you can key in the tempo in the timestretch on the mpc, but you need to be aware of what the tempo is to begin with, that's why people have suggested tap tempo. what they mean is create a new sequence and set loop to however many bars your sample is long. now trigger the sample at the beginning, and then you can either use tap tempo to bring the sequence's tempo in line with the sample's tempo, or else you can manually adjust the tempo of the sequence until the sample loops seamlessly. congratulations you have found out the tempo of the sample. now take that to the timestretch window, and enter it into the original tempo box. then put your existing sequence's tempo into the new tempo box, and voila! should work ok, providing the tempo difference isn't that big.

hope this helps.
