i dont know the difference between the different kinds of wire. im sure as long as iron is a conductor then electricity can pass thru it.....so i dont see why it wouldnt work.....im guessing the wire im using is copper, but i dont know these things... lol im guessing man.

If you are getting a hum from equipment that doesn't need a dedicated ground, you need to find the source of it. It is very tedious. Pretty much plugging in and unplugging sources until you find the cause. This is a ground loop. I try to have all my stuff hooked up to one outlet though a surge protector, like most people, and i've never had any problems. Obviously check cables first, but it seems you've done that.

i think im gonna wait a few days with grounding stuff.
new mixer and monitors will be here then
i whas grounding my amplifier and when the wire touched the cables of my tft screen my monitors made a hell of a noise and the grounding wire sparked

I'd give the monitors back to the store coz there is a chance you f'd your monitors up that way...but that's just me

haha that where my old monitors, my new ones come in this week.

You know that third prong on an electrical plug? Thats your ground, meaning your gear is already grounded.

You probably have whats known as a ground loop. do a google search on audio ground loops and you'll find a bunch of info.
