No Love for the 2K??

Maybe it's just me but it seems like Akai just totally forgot about the 2K.Look at how easy it is to find parts even different faceplates for other models.It just seems like they put the 2K on the shelf and forgot all about it.

Its discontinued thats why. Also u can get parts and stuff for it from VST (www.vstservice.com). Also technology increases so products get replaced.

Yeah i know about vst and all but it just seems like the completely abandoned 2K owners.They could at least still make face plates for them.

Well most people want the newer stuff out so they are gonna make stuff for their newer items b/c Akai doesnt wanna make an investment they cant recoup from. Thats how i see it.

Oh yeah u can get faceplates for them. Costly though.

I think vst still has them for like a little over a hundred so i'll probably get one and just go back to the original beige.I customized the one i have now and i don't like it anymore.

Yeah around $110 total. Last time i checked there were some still in stock.

@Smoove...yeah,i think everyone wants to have the newest thing but with the 2K and a descent computer you can do some serious damage.

yes they left us out in the cold, and there are plenty of times i wanted to buy a new one but have my own system on doing things like they do on A 2kxl. unless she breaks downs and dies, i will not replace her.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I think since computers are so powerful nowadays that a lot of the features on the other MPCs are useless. I wouldn't dream of time-stretching on any MPC. Because 1.it takes forever and 2 it sounds s**t. Same goes for loop cutting. Recycle or ableton do that kinda stuff much better and quicker than any MPC. Stuff like that has improved a lot on computers in the last 5 years or so. I do all my stretchin and choppin on a computer, use the MPC editor to make the programs, save it to disk and load it onto the MPC. Quick and Simple.

I use the 2000 because of the sequencer, the workflow, the sound and the timing. It's more like an instrument to me than an all-in-one solution. IMHO there are too many "jack of all trades" programs and hardware boxes out at the moment. Too many f****ing options. My head gets fried with a lot of new software because it overwhelms you with the choices when all I wanna do is make a beat. The 2000 makes you zone in and concentrate on what you're doing. I'm not dissing the XL,1000,2500,MPC60,3000 or the 4000. They're all great machines.

I just find the 2000 more than enough for what I'm doin.

yea i think its enough for me right now. i wouldnt mind tryin that auto zone feature that the xl has, but i get by.

I love the 2K but the only issue i have is storage.I don't mind the zip disk but if i could, i would def. want an internal card reader.That's really the only thing that attracts me to the XL.Like Kraster said you do alot more with a computer at a faster speed.
