Connecting to my pc...

I've been searching the forums for this answer and can't really find what I need.

I just want to connect my MPC to my PC so I can burn my beats to CD. Do you connect it from the SCSI or the MIDI out? And what does it connect to on the PC?! What software do I need on my PC to burn the tracks? I've got Nero.

I know this is probably really basic but if someone can help me out I'll really appreciate it. Thanks...James

From mixer, assign all channels (used) to mixer buss (stereo)....Route buss to line in of soundcard (cabel connection depends on soundcard and Mixer) .Use a software program like soundforge to record the stereo file ...save as wav...Use Nero to burn the *wav. file to CD then ur done.

If u only use your MP' then stereo outs str8 to line in with the appropriate cabel and then continue to follow the instructions above.

Midi doesn't carry sound...And the SCSI on the MPC is only for data transfer between storage devices....Cant communicate with PC

I've got a mixer which I could connect the output to the 'Line In' on my PC, that would work then?

Or would it be best to connect directly from the MPC from the 'Stereo out' like you said?

Or will it make no difference at all!! Just need to get the right cables now!

doing it via the mixer will allow you to eq your project before recording

I've hooked the MPC up through the outputs on my mixer to the Line In on my PC, but how do I now get the PC to recognise theres something there!!!?

I've downloaded a trial of Sound Forge 7 and tried it through that but no luck Doubt anyone will know this without physically being here to look but worth a go!

Any help?!

make sure your soundcard setting is set right and setup the audio(setup) in soundforge.

go to preference and set it up from there

I've got my MPC connected from the 'Stereo Out' to the 'Line In' on my PC and my PC connected from the 'Line Out' to the input on my mixer.

It plays my beats fine fom my MPC but its like it's going sraight through the PC to the mixer, I just can't find it on my PC at all.

Messed around with Sound Forge for about 2 hours just trying to get the signal but with no luck at all! Tried going to Preferences and I still can't do it.

I'm not happy at all!!!

As you can see I'm not great at all the technical side of making beats

Why? Y not route it via the desk...Better flixibilty for a start!

To me, it sounds like u gotta go into the properties of your soundcard and enable LINE-IN and make sure the volumes are up.

Its not actually a file until u record something and save it so theres nothing to look for.

When u open up SF, click the REC button to bring up the monitor window...
When the beat is playing, you should see the levels going up and down as the signal is recieved....If not, go to OPTIONS > PREFERENCES...Click the WAVE tab. In the drop down windows (for PLAYBACK & RECORD), select your soundcard type then click apply.

Now open the REC window again....Play the beat.....Anything being recieved?? I hope so

Stop having thoughts like that man..Your gonna hurt yourself.....
What you are trying do here is 'record audio'.....Wav is a file type (in which case you haven't created yet) The PC couldn't careless whether the MPC was there are not for these type of exercise.

The soundcards a Realtek AC97 Audio...I've selected it in 'WAVE' under 'PREFERENCES' on Sound Forge but still no luck.

The green bars are there moving but not to my beats! They move if my MPC is switched off!

Your post has made me have another go at it but I really can't make this work and can't see any reason why it shouldn't the way I have it set up right now

Would it be easier to buy an external CD-ROM drive to burn my tracks to?

Instead of going through my PC?

Not str8 outta the MP...That cant happen...The MPC cant burn to CD-r's

I'd say you should unstring everything then string it back up and incorporate when you've been told - May the problem is in the mixer connections...I say start over!

- Your problem is probably that the record-in source is not selected.

Double click the speaker icon on the system tray or go to the control pane through the start button
-this will probably show all of your system volume levels (system, wav, CD-Rom,...)
-Click the File menu, switch to recording properties and close the window
-you will now have the all of the line-ins which you can select.
-Select the appropriate one (Line-In, Mic)
-Try recording again.

You may have to adjust the recording levels.

I have only done this with musicmatch but it should work fine.
