NONE OF THE PADS WORK!!!!

I just picked up an awesome blue MPC 2000XL(which has a short warranty on it), but none of the pads work!

Has anyone seen this before? Am I doing something wrong? I initialized the params etc. I don't see any action in MIDI etc.

Is there something I'm missing or is it possible to have all pads bad?

have you loaded sounds? it dosnt come with sounds.

Thanks for the reply - Yes I loaded sounds. I had a few disks from the last time I had a 2000XL, loaded sequences and sounds etc. The machine works great except for the pads. It looks almost new except for a couple small scratches. The pads don't look used at all!

Sounds like the pad sensor has lost touch. If you have warranty take it back for a refund or another machine. If not contact me via PM. Im actually fixing on an client's XL now that has two pads that went out.

i would make sure im not just trippin before i go thru sending it back and all that....

if you do your best to make sure you arent skipping any step and the pads still dont work, I would do what nicole said

Well also make sure its not your audio outputs. When you load up a sound to the pad go to Program does it show the actual sound u have loaded. If the sound is shown loaded then its yor audio outputs if you try to load to a pad and it doesnt recognize it or when you in Program window and you press various pads and it doesnt change then its your sensor sheet.

When I mean the pads don't work they don't work! When I LOAD a sound it asks me as usual what note I want to assign it to(like 60/C05) I hit the pads and nothing happens. I have cycled through all the pads trying to get something to flinch, but no response.
I was hoping that the pads were somehow just "turned off" but I think i've got a problem here.
I just opened up the machine top and bottom, and everything looks mint.

Does anyone know of a master reset I could try?

Sorry to say but its your sensor sheet. Take it back b/c you opening it and tampering with it will discard your warranty.

not sure if this will help as you sound like you know what you are talking about...but try this:

hit SHIFT + 5 to get to trim screen, then hit SHIFT + F1.

from there click memchk then click padchk and see if it gives you any values.

thats from mpc2000xl.com...very cool function.

Hey you may need to open the MPC and ensure that the pad sensor ribbon is properly connected. If it isn't then they won't work. If this is the case then it is an easy fix.

Well,

It's fixed! The pad sensor ribbon for some reason was not making a solid connection. The guy had it fixed in a minute.
