SYSTEM TEST, What the hell does this mean?

Once I got the System Test error...my MPC doesn't work regardless of what I try. It will not let me install the OS.

Have you guys been able to re-install the OS after this problem or did you have to send it to Akai to fix?

Hate to be the one to tell you this but.. If you can't install from the card


(as far as akai is concerned you have to send it back)


Will a bootleg fix from the backdoor of akai hit the forum we'll see...

Damn! I rarely use my 2500 due to my work schedule. I guess I'll keep it like that until a new OS drops. This does suck---so this SYSTEM TEST randomly pops up? Speaker crackling first correct? Then a shut down? I'll let the black dog sleep for now................

since i got the mpc back today it has been doing some wierd stuff. I took some samples and assigned them to pads and i got up for a few minutes and went to the kitchen and randomly my mpc played one of the samples. Also some of the pads play with a delay. really messed up stuff.

And did Mr. Shea over at Akai tell you what to do if you can't put the O.S. back on the MPC, and you are stuck at a System Test Screen?

I was told that they would ship you a 'loaner' CF card...

I guess their getting advanced with their sh@t now.

Anybody know akai's policy on straight up cash retuns if the product's still under warrenty?

I just got the system test error.

shut it off, restarted twice, same thing. Now I'm worrying.

loaded up os 1.1 onto my flash card, put it into the mp, held down "window" during startup, and the os was loaded up fine. and everything is back to normal.

my suggestion, instead of going and sending it back...go to best buy and get a cheap compact flash card reader for your computer, this way you can load up the os without having to connect to the mp.

I tried this but it doesn't work. I am on my way out the door to buy another CF card to exhaust all possibilities.

...also, I rarely connect my MPC to my PC via USB. I am scared that it might blow up I have multi-card drives in all my computers.

IMHO only----you must use the ORIGINAL flash card to reinstall your OS. So try that out. And the cheap card reader is a great idea. I got an Adaptec for $15 at Best Buy...Deleted new OS from it and put the original OS in the root directory and did the holding the Window key down and it worked.

I'm using a lexar 256mb "professional compact flash" card, 40X

and it read the os fine.

Knowbody could help me with my problem. I just lucky. When the problem I had...holding down the window key and powering up produces a blank screen. I had no way of telling what is going on the 2500. So, did the same thing as everyone else has suggested. I put the OS on a fCF card (just for kicks..I used the original 1.0b OS). So when I powered up, the screen was still blank. So I waited a few moments...and then pressed the F6 key. A few moments later, my 2500 is back in service. Imagine that......

I am really thinking about selling it.......
