DJ Shadow's drum programming

he can program crazy drums with single hits too of course.. for anyone that has a doubt... he sure is better than any of us. i thought endtroducing was a collage of tiny samples but its not I have a record with only beats programmed by dj shadow and its good. such fine grooves house too
I think there is a lot of drum programming going on in The Private Press, no? I know that Walkie Talkie track has a timestretched drumloop but after those first tracks, I think most of the drums are programmed.. But I thought Endtroducing was programmed too .. so what do I know

no doub't, not taking anything away from the cat... just like the track, ''Swan Lake'' he did for Blackalicious... that's a sick beat imo... but yeah he did alot of drum programing on the private press album...

yeah he did, i saw that on his concert DVD... chopped it & layed it on the pads, 3000... & played it...

Cliff Hanger from Blackalicious´ NIA is a Shadow production that sound very programmed, 808 / 909 type of sounds in a rather standard formation.
The track Storm Warning for Latyrx and Divine Intervention with Divine Styler on the Quannum Spectrum comp is really great Shadow productions if you like his soft sample based sound. Storm Warning is truly fantastic.

Yeah, I was reading that book Eliot Wilder did on Endtroducing interviewing Shadow, and he said James Lavelle told him that when he and another staff member of MoWax were listening to the album for the first time they were digging it, but when Organ Donor came on, they were jumping around the room with excitement.

I love Entroducing more than any other record . It has inspired me to do what I do every day , as well as countless others . It raised the bar for hip hop . timeless perfection

It's just a break flipped, really not that amazing , don't get me wrong Shadow is my idol but I have been disecting that CD for years and have found just about every sample on it. It's the drum break that is amazing and if you had it, you would be able to figure out how he flipped it . The break has those **sick kik triplets in it.** He's a monster at flipping breaks but really a lot of his stuff on Entroducing is just arranged and not chopped that much. His later work is chopped and twisted much more . Using small chops so he could get away without clearing the samples. He was a nobody when he made that record and really didn't clear anything .

I really dont wanna start a beef here or insult anyones intelligence, but there are no triplet kicks in the drum break on building stream in a grain of salt. If you tap the 32nd note and listen to that secion, every hit is right on.

People always want to criticise Endtroducing. Wether it's picking it apart trying to figure out how it was made or just putting it down and saying how simple it was to create. The only point of that album that I can bring up is that it was an increadible piece of music for it's time and it changed a lot of things for hiphop and many other genres of music. And just the fact that people are on a message board talking about it ten years later is more than any of us can hope to achieve.

P.S. Wether it was a break or not, them drums were bangin'!!
