Installed the OS 1.1 when I got the "system test" error, now I'm losing samples and shit again for no reason (wich never happened with the 1.2). Gettin real tired of this machine now, seriously, is there a new OS on its way?

Let me know if you do.

I'll send you the link to mine. It's going on ebay tomorrow. It still works and doesn't have the "system test" screen. I have the 40 GB HD, CD-M25, and 128mb of RAM. LOTS OF SAMPLES AND DRUM BREAKS.

Knowbody could help me with my problem. I just lucky. When the problem I had...holding down the window key and powering up produces a blank screen. I had no way of telling what is going on the 2500. So, did the same thing as everyone else has suggested. I put the OS on a fCF card (just for kicks..I used the original 1.0b OS). So when I powered up, the screen was still blank. So I waited a few moments...and then pressed the F6 key. A few moments later, my 2500 is back in service. Imagine that......

I am really thinking about selling it.......

AWWW FUKKKKK

where were you when I needed you Maaaaaaannnnnnnn!!!!!

Jahrome....

for months now you have been preaching about how this is the best MPC out and they will get it into a dream machine w/ new OSs and now you are gonna sell the 2.5K? What is your rationale w/ that? Are you just frustrated and pissed at akai or are you seriously thinking of dropping it? If they fix this in a couple of weeks with a new OS and everybody is back in business are you not gonna want the 2.5 back once again??? Is it just this bug or are there other reasons you do not like the 2.5K? other bugs?

I haven't had enough music time lately to even get a system test thank god.
1 bug I do know that pisses me off is when I go to press record the damn thing switches programs on me.

I just had the System Test screen. Fortunately I had the OS's on the CF card and a restart with the window key held down, then reinstalling the OS, did the trick.

Never saw this bug with 1.0b and 1.1 so I'm guessing it's a 1.2 thing, hopefully Akai are on it (providing peeps have mesaged them about it, which I'm sure they will have done).

I am just venting. My main beef is Akai's lack of attention to detail. There were issues with MPCs of the past but they have always fixed them pretty quickly. But the OS updates for the 2500, fixes one thing, and breaks what was working before. WTF? Who the hell is actually beta testing this software? We have forum members that find bugs within 24 hours. WTF?

I am still venting. Well, the wife is back in Japan. I may get her to look for a MPC 3000 for me....yet keep the 2500 in hopes that they finally get it right..which they usually do.

I just emailed Akai about this problem on behalf of the users here and pointed them in the direction of the threads about system test.

I'm sure everyone having the problem has done it too but it's one more to the list so that they can't just fob it off as an 'anomally' as they said to someone.

I also mentioned about the fact that we seem to find bugs with the new OS within hours of it's release and that it should be tested by people who use the MPC properly rather than just giving it a quick skim over.

Is there another email address for Akai support? I'm sure somebody posted one before. i sent the message to [email protected] but there was another one posted up, akai support USA or something

why is everybody talking about getting rid of their 2500's because of the system test. It can be fixed and once the new OS comes out it will be gone plus more features will be added. This MPC is so powerful and just better than any others. I wouldn't be going crazy trying to sell it because of this issue. I had the problem and i fixed it. It's just a bug and bugs can be worked out and eliminated with time. Those who wait will be happy because they will eventualy have the most powerful and easy to use sampler drum machine in the world.

Exactly, that's why i'm waiting.

And to be honest 1.1 isn't even that bad. You can get round the dodgy midi on 1.1 by using the direct recording feature.

But i'm still on 1.2, i'm taking the risk and loving every minute of it.

So i put 1.1 on cf card ( the only thing on the card) and tried to boot holding down the window key. I get a screen that says "mpc 2500 WRONG CARD!"

Anybody know what that's about?
