MPC1000/KORG TR..do I need a sound module?

Hello to all, I have my MPC and Korg hooked up thru a mixer. I can hear the events I play with the KORG thru the MPC when I play back my sequence, but how do I get the MPC to actually record the MIDI signals?Is this possible?Do I need a sound module now?Or do I actually need to "sample" the keys I play on the Korg??
