Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By cashstill Sun May 28, 2006 7:17 pm
Anybody got a template or patch that i could
reference to get up to speed to map these
drums across the NNXT sampler to match
my MPC pads.

I am trying to create my Own custom Reason Refills
that will load patches in NNXT that will
correspond to my pads on my MPC.

I know the MPC dosen't map out keys
that correspond with the location of
your keyboard so i was wondering how
did you all resolve this issue.

I check my MPC manual just to see
if there was a chart of a Drum Map
of some sort but didn't find any.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

the nnxt plays inputted midi notes, the mpc outputs midi notes. it's as simple as assigning samples to the notes. here is a simple 'blank mpc' nnxt patch. there's four sample slots (or layers) per note, so you can do velocity switching. i only did one bank, ie 16 note, but once you've seen how it's done, you can easily create more.

hope this helps.

Nicole

If you take a look at Nicole's link here and scroll down the page you will see a General Midi(GM) Layout. Copy this layout to the MPC and save it as an empty program (ie. without samples assigned to the notes)
You'll find a lot of sample CDs conform to this layout as well as most drum modules (should you ever use one)
It's wise to use this layout because it means that when you load up your GM samples on the NNXT the pads will be already set up.
