changing sequence using midi controller

hey all, first post-not yet got an mpc but hope to within the next few weeks.

the main use for it will be live, and i'm gonna go for either the 2000 or 2000xl. i will be using it just as a drum machine, which means i need to be able to change sequences quickly eg fills etc

is there any way you can change sequence usign a midi controller keyboard?

I beleive only on the XL you can send program changes to switch sequences.

o ok. looks like i'm gna wait till i've got enough for the xl.

would it be an easy process to send data to change sequences using a midi controller?

Make sure your MPC comes with a manual.
