I had this problem before. You gotta watch out for spaces or characters besides letters and numbers. Also try to have your sample names no longer than 8 characters.

Also, make sure you're exporting the PGM and sounds.

is the mpc editor that helpful..Can you tweak sounds on it, or is it just for naming and organization

Yep, you can tweak the same as on the MPC. The tuning, levels, etc. can all be done on the Editor. I love this thing.

It's on the Windows platform, but there's another similar program for Macs, I forgot what it's called though.

I don't think you can preview the changes.

The program for Mac is,"MPC Program Maker." I have it and it works great.

So how are you gonna brag about it above and not be able to preview the changes. That confuses people right there, quit it.

Yes, you can do all of that, no you cannot preview changes.
How do you know if your changes are good or somewhat good, lady luck possibly.

I'm 'bragging' on it because I like the program. You can set the voice overlap (poly, mono, note off) for each pad. You can assign the sounds to the main outs as well as the individual outs. You set the panning as you like. You just cannot hear the changes made to the tuning/freq/resonance. You can assign sounds to notes, notes to pads, set the sound generation mode.

Overall, I LIKE THIS PROGRAM!! It serves it's purpose for me and I would recommend it as a quick way to get your sounds quickly into a PGM and ready for the MPC, whether to tweak further or bang out a beat. Download the demo and see if it's for you before you buy it. Simple as that. If someone was confused by anything I said earlier, I hope that cleared it up.

I love the program too, best thing since sliced beats. I do HATE the fact that there's no preview of your settings changes.
