Spesh Vrs Waxmaster Wes (Battle of the Beats)

Whats cracking. After that battle vrs. Nym (the one where I got my ass handed to me ) Waxmaster Wes called me out for a battle. He should be posting his here soon, but here's mine:

It's the first one on the page. I usually make more complex beats but this is actually for my boy JMC to rhyme over.

here's mine.. pretty sloppy but i just got back from camping so had to rush it.

I voted for Wes. Both tracks were pretty tight to me though. Wes's drums were cuttin' through the mix a little better and hitting a little harder, and I liked the off-ness of them, but maybe they were just a tiny bit too much off. I liked the way Spesh flipped his sample up, it kept the track interesting, but maybe it coulda used a couple of more elements to it. Also, spesh's drums were a little muddy. The cuts on Wes's track gave it a nice battle feel.

im not really feelin either beats, but i like wax's drums & scratches, so he takes it.

Wes for me, bass is crazy although a little weak in the mix.

The sloppyness suits the beat.

wes's drums are cool, i love the offness of them. sooo much more charactor than ultra quantised stuff. the cuts were cool, this sounds very organic and sp303 ish, i like that. not much progression, but a dope beat. it makes no promises that it doesn't keep 100%. enough samples in there to keep it interesting. that fuzzy bass sounds a little weird, but it's all good.

spesh - great intro sample - but i'd add attack to the violin because i can really hear the chops. no big deal, just blur them a little bit. i like the violin sample better than wes's sample already. drums are muddy, and a little too quantised compared to wes's. i like the when you start cutting the violin differently, but again - add some attack/decay. wow you went nuts on the rehashing here. great job, each cut of that violin sounds good and smooth, very pleasing chops. seamless progression too.

though i liked wes's drums/sound quality better, the chops on spesh's violin got me. just again, play with "blurring," using attack and decay and tiny little patches of the original sample to make it seamless.

if there was a draw option i'd go for that. i did like both beats a lot, and wes is a champ, but this time around i'm gonna go for spesh - probably because the beat was more geared in my direction.

wes, again, though, those drums were no joke.

this is my first "beat battle" look forward to doin another one. the only enemy for me is time im mad busy lately.

I gotta give it to Wes. He came sick with it. flowers HEAT. I also noticed today my chops although decent, are not perfected at all. I appriciate the feedback and I look forward to more battles. I've battled two sick beat makers so far and win or lose I'm have much respect for both Nym and Wes. You two shoud battle next haha.

wes -the drums were tight and it was sick sample/bass melody..an MC could rips that. spesh's sounded like a real tight beat but it was so muddy i couldnt even really make everything out. based upon this analysis i vote for wes.
