MPC Confusion

Hi, I am saving up for a xl (my first mpc). I have been making tunes on the puter for a while. i am currently reading this huge manual for the xl so I can jump right into making beats once i get it. But the manual has me a bit confused. Am i understanding this correct?

Events (drum/midi notes) go into making a track.
Tracks go into making up a sequence.
Sequences are arranged to create a song.

Am I understanding this correctly? tNX.

I'm glad to see that youre reading the manual before you get your 2000XL. You will definetly have to play with the machine and read the manual over to get things. Good luck!

Brilliant strategy. If you have even a 10% understanding of the manual before you get your xl, you are gonna be like a fish to water once you get the xl in your hands. I wish I would have done that.

I copped my 2000 and didn't touch it for a month. I spent that whole time reading the manual. Plus I was too busy to f*ck with it anyway.

So far I have been enjoying reading the manual. Its not as bad a read as i heard it was. I am already about halfway done with it. Should be done with it by the end of this week. Then im taking it too the beach with me this weekend and going to go through the whole thing again . It is incredible how much stuff the mpc can do. Amazing machine. I would get that xl ebook but I would rather put that money in my saving acct for the mpc. But once i get it i deffinitly plan on getting the ebook for the hands on tutorials and whatnot. I am so excited gunna have to take few days off from work when it arrives

yeah i'd say you're better off reading the manual till you get the mpc, then maybe get the eBook, as you'll need the mpc to try out some of the stuff in there. basically, like you said. shut up modnaR! ok.

I used the same strategy you used and I got into beat making really really fast...i wasn't making platinum records but I was making beats. You will definetly need to buy that eBook or browse this forum constantly to learn lots of tips and tricks about producing...like EQ, mixing, programming, all sorts of tricks. Good luck
