Unity Battle: Eddie Kain(aka Kontak80) vs. Jacpot(MPC)

Liked both...voted EK...more original style...

Eddie Kain, same with you. Even though you're FP brethren, I've only heard like 2 tracks from you...EVER.

My vote goes to Eddie Kain. Even though both tracks were melodically great, and the sample work was great, Kontak's was TECHNICALLY better. He had more variation and structure in his song. Also, the use of the phaser was a nice touch as well.

Also, a big thing for me was that he didn't just put a some drums behind the sample...he put some original instrumentation in the song too. That really makes the song HIS.

Great work to both, but Eddie Kain got this one this round. But respect to Jacpot, he did his thing.

Same here, liked both beats but for reasons above i went with EK

Oh damn, you both killed it on this one. Tough choice... I had to listen to both of 'em three times to decide.

Eddie K: Nice drums and drum programming. I liked the melody flips, but there were a couple of spots that seemed too hectic. I liked the stutter bring backs.

Jacpot: I like that sample. I like the drum programming. I liked the changes.

Man, this is a tough one. So close. I think for me it has to go to Eddie K, his sounded like it had a little more of an original style, and the arangement was a little more pleasing to my ears.

Good sh1t guys. Nice battle.

Someone needs to say that every last person involved in these battles came with some nice ass samples/groundwork....




But I think every last one of you slept on the drumwork.

I kinda typed that in a hurry. It could be my tiny ass speakers I'm using over here, but the drums seemed a little bit low except for on Capp and K's work. I'm going to listen again and again....believe that.

There were a few instances where I thought the beat could have used a few extra hihats...maybe a better snare...it's all good.

You ever had a TIGHT A$$ track that was bangin by itself, then when you took the track to an artist, his flow is counter-productive with the drum pattern or the whole track completely? I've found that leaving the pattern basic and making the rest of the track fire makes life easier for the artist. Once he has recorded, then you can sprinkle all the fairy dust your heart desires on the drum pattern, because from that point you will be building around the vocals.

Having said all that..... my pattern is teh suck because I was fukkin tired last night!! LOL

Eddie Kain's shit was tight, but the variations were just aight, and the drums were lacking a little something.

Better than anticipated tho.

Jacpot's sh!t was crack, but it had too much air in it too win.

Tie. Although I liked both tracks alot.

I have to give this one to Eddie Kain. But Jacpot is still the man though just listen to the Why Remix.
