Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

:?:
i have a few questions:
1)can you put in 2 adat cards in the mpc?to give 16 digital outs to a 01V96?

2)when say..using 1 adat card(8 out/2 in) with the akai,is it full duplex? ie,can you be playing out of 8 and recording in on 2 at the same time? Ive heard that the s/pdif is in'n'out at the same tiime but is the adat?

3)out of curiosity,if you expanded the mpc4000 totally eg, extra 8 analogue outs/adat/s/pdif... could you use them all at the same time or...say..if you select to use the 8 analogue outs, the machine automatically disengages the adat/s/pdif? can you choose this in the machine itself? is their an 'out/in all' option for instance?

4)I would like to use the clock in my sequencer. Will the mpc slave?
thanks in advance....*

no you can only use 1 output card at a time and can only have max 8outs. so if you have the adat installed and the analog you can mix and match outs if you'd like but will never get to have 16 outputs at once. I believe the Adat sync on the MPC will work the same as everyother unit that has it since it is a general format. I have the Adat card and use it often but am sorry I got it now that I'm trying to use more outboard Analog gear such as compressors and filter, eq's while recording!!

thanks for your help. ADAT etc.. is all new to me and I actually havent decided if Im going pure digital or analogue yet with the mpc. nice one for the info about the outputs though.

ummmm...
Pristine sharp signal paths or a bit of the analogue flava/distortion. The more i look into this digital side of life, the more i feel the analogue. I guess.... make your own v.good cables, user XLR where possible and keep 'em short...and if you can affort it...get an Apogee card. That sould do it!

peace.
