You will need a midi interface for the MIDI connection and yes a mixer can be used or if your soundcard has enough inputs you could just hook the outs from the MPC1k to the soundcard and monitors to the out on the soundcard and you can hear the 1k and reason playback. If not a mixer will work.

Is there a way to sample the sounds from Reason to the 1K using an MBox? Soundcard is stock. Thanks again

That is respoding to basic audio routing not actually how to sync Reason and MPC1k via MIDI(already detailed and a video out for this on this site-see sticky in 1k forum).
Yes u can sample the sounds from Reason into the 1k using a Mbox. You take the outs from the Mbox to the Record In on your mpc.
