Nope.... never seen it before. I guess I am one of the lucky ones. If it does ever happen, you guys will be the first to know.

And now you guys are the first to know. I turned it off, turned it back on now I got this damn SYSTEM TEST crap. I DL'd the new OS but the problem is getting it on my CF card and re-booting. I have like 4 CF cards but none of them have an OS on it for some reason (I thought I kept 1.1 on one of the cards). Any advice? Help? Info? I guess I could go out and buy a card reader, load the new OS and then boot holding the Window button. I just dont have time to do that until Saturday. SONOFABITCH!!!!

OK, so now i'm getting the SYSTEM TEST error after weeks of reading about em on here. Talk about lame. I don't have the original 32mb card that came with mine and installing the old or new os isn't working. Guess i'll try initializing the card. So far i'm getting "wrong card!".

Not trying to be a prick...but if you have been reading the threads about the System Test problem, you should have all the knowledge you need to solve..and even prevent this problem.

What's the solution? buying a 32mb flash card? I've erased my 1gb card and tried installing v1.1 while holding the windows key.

The solution should be made a sticky & not buried in 9 pages of responses.

read my post on page 8 of this thread, i also use a mac powerbook for everyone who feels like they're from pc users. clear any cf card using a cf reader connected to via usb to your laptop/ desktop etc. put only the 1.1 os on first and nothing else. do the steps.

I agree. I made this comment before and it went ignored. Personally, I think it makes no sense to make people wade through nine pages after the 'solution' has been derived, expecially one as crippling as SYSTEM TEST. If it were stickied all of us wouldn't keep asking the same question and everyone else wouldn't have to give the same answer "do a search..." Just my opinion. I read through the pages ad nauseum and it was never clear to me through all the cross chatter if people had to keep applying the fix or not. Luckily 1.21 came out. In any event, I found that only the 32MB card works. I have a 1 GB card and kept getting wrong card too. I'm not certain if its is just a 32MB card is needed or if you really need the original. My gut says a 32MB card will suffice, but it may be hard to get one at retail. Based on the P/N, try this site for a 32mb card

http://www.pretec.com/index2/product/SS ... ercial.htm

As far as the 'fix' the basic method is to get the OS (1.21 is suppsoed to address system test) on the root of CF card from your desktop (either with a card reader or using a mounted MPC), then rebooting the MPC while holding doen the windows key. The recommended load procedure specified by Akai (using Load from the Load mode) has consistenly caused problems even with the latest OS. Only put 1 OS on the card. If you have 2 or more, the MPC will only receognize the most recent (the exception is 1.21, it doesn't seem to show when another OS is in the root.)

Finally got it working with my 1gb card. Apparently the mac had formatted the card incorrectly. I formatted the drive as FAT on my pc and i'm now good to go.

Let me get this right....... my brand new machine that I bought for ---- craps out and I have to buy another peice of equipment to get it to work? Does this not sound like some bull****? If somebody was smart they would just sell these CF cards with the O.S. on it str8 up and make some money. Cause the way this looks it's gonna effect almost anybody. I just got this System Test thing and nobody actually carries a CF card reader in stock. It has to be orderd and takes 3-6 business days! I have a session 2nite!!

sorry...venting...
