I did a search on newegg.com for 1 to 2GB CF cards:

Peep the Speed specifications. And keep an eye out for "Manufacturer's Site" links.

Yip my mpc just frooze on saving ,

what happened was i saved a project , to same folder got the normal directory error , worked a litte more on the project then saved again , it frooze while saving the samples , luckily it passed the erasing part and was just froozen on the saving part , i freaked rebooted and luckily it was all there from the prevoius save.

So not as bad as yours but i can confim that the mpc does freeze on saving sometimes it really should not this should be stable, also this is after i formatted my memory card (256 Sandisk) 2 days before this happend because of directory error, and this card works fine

I have also had a terrible experience with a CF card, I bought a Kingston 1GB card and after about four months it died out. It would load, but when I tried to save it it gave me an system error. The error message didnt leave the screen - but hitting 'main' twice allowed me to clear out the CF and use a different card to save the complete seq/program. Really it comes down to the quality of the Compact Flash card. If you pay $25 for a gig of memory, you get the quality of $25. If your beats are worth it, get a secure card.

My 1000 FROZE completely on me while I was saving a beat...
It has never froze on me before, and considering that I only had one option (as far as I know) to restart, I turned it off...I knew I'd lose whatever I had been working on before that save, however.............
everything fom that project was LOST!! all the seqeunces, programs, basically, names were there, but NO SAMPLES. the programs were completely empty. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me there's a way to retrieve that data, considering I've spent months on this one tune as a bside for the new single.

.......thank you

this happened to me a couple times foolin around with those crack head zip drives. lost my work and tried to do the same beat over again.

NEVER TURNS OUT THE SAME :!:
