I'm gonna get the power supply cable from http://www.cimplespares.com for £5.56 and the card/reader writer from http://www.digitalera.co.uk/readers-and ... e-readers/ for £19.99.

Do you reckon that's a good price? The cable is probably expensive but I don't want to fiddle around with soldering or taping wires together. My baby deserves the proper cable me thinkst

Probably easier and cheaper to come by in the us.

http://www.certiguide.com/apluso/cg_apo_FAT16.htm
FAT 16 was introduced with DOS Version 2. Technically, it supports up to 4 GB of hard drive space.

Due to a bug in (MS) FDISK, the limitation for Windows 3.x/9.x Operating System, the limit is stated to be a 2 GB limit This explains why there is a 4GB limit for FAT 16 in Windows NT and a 2GB limit when using DOS based Windows. FAT 16 has other limitations as well. For example, no more than 512 entries (that is, 512 files and folders TOTAL) can be in the root directory of a hard drive.

You can find that cardreaders, internal and external, for cheaper than $50. If this is goin inside an 2kXL, then you can substitute the IDE cardreader for a SCSI one. Try searchin on eBay for a Microtech 47B cardreader...

Just make sure the zip drive is SCSI(not parallel-old printer ports) and the mpc2000xl has 50 pin so u will need a 50 pin to whatever pin size the zip drive is.

My Zip just f*cked up and I can't get sh*t off of it. I recall somebody asking before but I don't remember seeing a response. Does the Card Reader work on the Classic?

followed the guide here..
http://home.tiscali.nl/%7Esmeyer/mpc/

Made my own power cable by scavengering one out of an old pc.. also found an old ide straight thru cable.. make sure you have a straight cable not one with master/slave because theres a hole in the connector thats covered up that the mpc needs to plug into.. luckily I also had this cable in the old pc :)

I bought the multi card reader from amtron technology..

i would stay with the zip drives and disc. get a usb on also to go with the one you got for the mpc and use it witht your pc , for file management. its way easier on the computer click, drap, drop, delete.
