This machine has had some serious problems over the last month or so, it began with the popping and now Its doing the sytem test thing, it wont get past it, I wasted 2000 dollars on this.

Im seriously about to trade it in for a 1000 if I can trick someone into buyin it.

Everybody needs to step forward with this and do somethin, I know this is a nuisance post but it needs to be addressed.

That sounds really bad... I'm keeping my 2kxl for a while thats for sure. Too bad akai don't use mpcfanatics like me and many others as beta testers before they release a new mpc. We would probably find out most of the problems before they release it. Although that problem you have now should even the most clueless tester find out....

Just read through these threads. You will find the solution to your problem and your MPC will be usuable again.

It's a bit hasty to get rid of it in my opinion.

Just do the fix and at least stick with it until the next OS. There will undoubtedly be bugs in that too as they dont let us test it before release but the system test should hopefully be addressed, along with the dodgy note repeat.

Is there a way the moderators can just 'sticky' the fix?

I just got my 2500 back.
QUIET Storm if ur sh@t is still under warranty holler at akai and get them to repair it for you (Shmeddiately).

I checked my MPC out and It is the same machine but they "switched" the Motherboard.

Now me being computer literate, know if u have a Software problem you don't fix it with a hardware replacement.

remember the MPC is after all a semi fancy computer.

So for everyone who thinks it's just a software issue oh do I have news for you.

You better hope your sh@t is still under warranty, and you better hope you can always get your machine back up and running with the Card trick.

If not You will be paying AKAI to "fix" it. Or you will be swapping out MPC 2500 Motherboards yourself.

I am curious.

How do you know that they switched the motherboard?

I have an invoice and it says that's what they did.

Aside from LOADING O.S. 1.2, (they put it back on the machine!!!!!!OMG!!!)

if it was software why would they put the software back on the MP only to have it fu$k up lata? HMMMMMMM

And just to clarify cuz I hate to start sh@t

the correct term they used was "MAIN" PCB (printed Circuit board)

Maybe they changed it as a precautionary measure.

It's all good I really don't care why they changed it.

My B@#$% is back!

It's like gettin that girl you wanted, losin her and gettin her back (she actin funny since I got her back doin weird sh@t wit note repeat), but that's what happens when other dudes f@#$ wit em and then they come back to you  !

I was going to say, since not everyone had the system test problem, I figured it was a production problem. A batch probably has bad chips or something. When someone mention crackling audio it had to be possible faulty chips or DA converters. Somebody in China doesn't know how to handle ICs.

But yea, check with whoever you bought your MPC from. Rant and rave if you don't get what you want. Most importantly write to Akai.jp as to how you feel cheated you bought a faulty product. And lets hope Jp Inc. continues to do badly in the World Cup.

all you have to do is put os 1.1 on a cf card. upload it to your mpc.

then put 1.2 on the cf card and upload that to your mpc.

good as new.

happened to me, and hasn't happened since!!!
