Question about SYSTEM TEST fix

I've read through the whole system test thread and all, but a few things aren't clear in all the verbiage there:

1) What OS are you putting on your CF card 1.1 or 1.2?

2) If you are using 1.2, do you get the SYSTEM TEST again and just keep reloading the OS from the CF card or are you permanently fixed going forward?

Everyone keeps calling it the 'fix' but it isn't clear to me if it is a fix or a workaround...

Someone please clarify...

I had the problem too yesterday,
I accidentally bumped against it and when i turned it on i had the system test screen , really freaked me out.

I installed the v1.0 os i still had on my harddrive and then the v1.2 and it's working again , it's a workaround not a fix.

Yeah, but has anyone ever gotten it twice?

This is the first I've heard of anyone having it happen to them twice... I've been purposely trying to get mine to do it, and I've never been able to.

I'd like to know what triggers the system test error.
The only thing i remember is accidentally bumping into my mpc before turning it on and there was the system test error.
I hadn't touched it all day and the day before it was working just fine.

Did you have the EXM128 installed? Did you have to remove it to successfully re-install the software?

So you've had it happen at least once and did the 'fix' and it hasn't happened since? If so, what OS did you put back on?

The hard drive on your PC or the HD in the 2500?

I'm being cautious because I was testing the 'hold window button' procedure last night (never pressed Do It) and found my 1GB card comes up with Wrong Card. Of course ,as has already been mentioned in the threads here, the 32 MB card works fine. SO if I were to try it it'd be a one time shot for me, becasue if I put both on teh card it only recognizes the most recent BIN (I was hoping it gave me a choice if two were detected).

I was hoping it was a case of people installing it for the first time (using the method Akai recommends) and getting System Test, but then they are putting the 1.2 BIN on the 32MB CF and reloading using the 'fix' and are fine going forward. Some have said they put 1.1 out the gate after getting ithe error to just rollback, while others have said they put 1.2 on, but just used the CF method. I haven't heard anyone state that after they do the 'fix' if it recurs.

I have the akai ram installed and no i didn't have to remove it.

The os was on my laptop harddisk , so i copied it to my 32MB akai CF-card and first installed the v1.0 os , then deleted that and did the same with the v1.2 os.

like this makes me highly upset becuz that's the error message that I got (Wrong Card).

If all I needed was another card

That could have saved me a lot of time Effort and most importantly my Workflow.

When I called Akai (at the height of the system test scare) they said they didn't know what was wrong and asked me to send my unit back.

If all I needed was the 32MB card AND THEY KNEW THAT already but just wanted to F.U.C.K wit ma S.H.I.T for GP That's foul (typical of cats with inferiority complexes but still foul).

That's my Word if this machine does that System Test Shit again I'm finished becuz I don't have the 32mb AKAI CF Card.

And If it Does happen again which we all know it shouldn't This **** is as good as fixed and hocked.
