help me figure out this turntable stuff

Save up for a used Technics SL1210 (i cant believe i just said that)

It will last you forever and wont be too expensive considering it wont depreciate much as long as you look after it.

I use a Numark belt drive TT1600. cheap but that sucker has been keepin up dam good

if u can afford a 1200, get it. ive used different tt's and imo nothing is comparable to the 1200's. u can get them new for 400.
the 1200 is a monster--weighs like 30 pounds--and one of mine was given to me from my grandfather and he's had that thing for decades (i now have to replace the rca jacks--no big deal)
whatever u do--dont get a DJ kit. i'll will never buy beginners equiptment again. biggest waist of $.

thanks for the tips fellas. lol@the beginners packs. i hate that word beginner. everything having to do with that stuff is usually too cheap to me. i just didnt want to go and spend lots of bread on something i dont know much about yet. i wanted to practice first and figure out actually how to use the thing before i went and bought an expensive one...

i didnt know you could get the 1200 for $400...you can get a pair for 400? or just a single table? i went on ebay and they have tons of different looking 1200's for different prices. not sure what the difference in them is.

Save your pennies and get the Vestax QFO they are expensive but I got mine for around $600 on e-bay. IMO this is the best TT for producers who sample. The thing is a beast and I recommend saving for one if you are into sample based production.

i'd buy it if i had the dough...and seeing q-bert & just blaze videos sold me on it. having a fader so close to the platter is dope--imo.

If it was a big gimmick with Q-Berts face attached to it (funny mental picture, BTW) wouldn't he have bought it because Q-Bert uses it, not Just Blaze?

Say what you want but the QFO is dope and works real nice for what I need and cost me less than getting 2 good TTs and a mixer. so flame away im happy with my purchase and thats all that matters to me.

also, ill need a dj mixer so thats coming next. after i figure out which table im getting. im only buying one because all I wanna do is scratch some sounds/vocals in and out. simple shi*. i understand I only need 1 to do that kind of thing.

as you see I dont plan on spending that much doe on a TT since this is not my main focus right now. But I am willing to spend up to $200 on a TT and then ill research mixers. will I get anything worth my money for $200?

Smoove, i bought the stanton T.80 for about that price after some bargaining.

I don't know about the numark, but i do like my stanton a lot.

did you get it used or something? i see them online for $250

how do you like it? does it bounce and go crazy when you try to scratch on it?

i was buying some other stuff with it. so i got it for like 215-125 i think. which wasn't a big deal. you might be able to cop one on ebay.

i've had it bounce only once or twice, and it was because i was being a little too vigorous.

i don't know anything about scratching but occasionally i will take vocal clips from records that have spoken words on them(comedy, theater, etc..) and scratch phrases onto the beats. i only have regular slipmats and it works really good IMO.
