the Akai S2000 and MPC

What can the S2000 do that the MPC (2000xl) can't? Anything?

I've barely cracked the surface with the MP features and this other guy is just chillin' in the closet. Do I need it?

Most rackmount samplers have multisamples, so you can map your sounds out on a keyboard and they will be over the range of notes so you can play a piano sample like an actual piano, other than that the mpc has it all I think... If your MPC doesn't have enough memory then you can always use the s2000 for other samples. I never read that it did, but maybe the S2000 has adjustable sample rates, so maybe you can be able to sample your drums at 12 bit quality to make them nasty... but I can't confirm that... ?

You can resample to 12 bit on your xl too.
You probably won't need the S2000 but it depends on what you're doing. More sample time is always good but.. If i was you i'd sell it and buy something else. There's not much point in having two almost similar sample engines, if you want to have a rackmount sampler i suggest getting a 950 or something like that.

I was using my S2000 to resample. I would sequence a keyboard line with the MPC and while the sequence is playing, I would sample it into the S2000. Then I would import the S2000 sample into my MPC and trigger it from there. If it sounds like alot of work that's because it is. I don't have an audio input for my computer, otherwise I'd use the computer to resample.

Mostly the multisampling.
It can also do filter sweeps which can be controlled by the pitch bend wheel on your control keyboard.....and you can do LFO controlled sweeps.
You can also pitch bend samples with the pitch bend wheel or with LFO.

I'll try out the filter sweeps, but I don't think I need to keep it.

That is grossly wrong. You should try reading the S2000 manual. The S2000 has a full featured sampling OS that the MPC does not have.

Yeah, i know that now, i just checked the specs a little more thoroughly and found out i was wrong. Sorry for handing out false information.

Next time i'm going to give an answer i'll make sure that i'm not talking out of my a$$!
