SAMPLE DUMP from an AKAI s950 to an Akai MPC 60 MK I

hello wizards and masters of the true school mpc 60 and 3000.

i would like to know if SAMPLE DUMP from an AKAI s950 to an Akai MPC 60 MK I is possible and if anyone uses this?

i think it is possible in theory and time is not a problem for me.

i am about to purchase an akai set up and i wanted to know what would be the best set up without replugging cables and sampling from one machine to another.

please only post if you have done this. many write about it. it is even in the akai s950 manual, but i have to KNOW.

Most people around here run a version 3 OS on the 60 and sample dumping/receiving cannot be done on that OS. You want to know the best setup without "replugging cables and sampling from one machine to another" just control the S950 with a MIDI out from the MPC.

Hmmm. my problem is the MPC 60 is quite difficult to come by fully loaded. i will be running 2. something. can the mpc read s950 files or vice versa? i would like to upgrade but it is expensive. yes you are right, but i would not mind dumping into the mpc if it is possible.

When you get your equipment MIDI both of the IN & OUT ports of the S950 to the MPC, then go into the sounds page and send and receive.

No, the only other files the 60 can read are midi files (must be converted from floppy utility) and MPC3000 files (must be converted from version 3).

that makes things much clearer. i think i will be looking forward to ordering my upgrade

ima try piggyback the eproms ontop of each other with a swtich and test this out

Messy !

But will work...

Maybe consider a switch of more than just the Chip Enable/Chip Select lines.

IE: "certain other lines" in an effort to minimise unwanted current draw on the MPC60's power supply by the chip set that is not enabled during operation from the switched in chip set.

This way will work fine and is the same method used on old "sound-rom-chip-stack" mods in SEQUENTIAL/OBERHEIM/LINN/VARIOUS-OTHERS type drum machines.
