how many records do you usually use for making a beat?

(not asking to try and find a certain "formula", just wondering curiosity wise)

me, only 1 per record usually. sometimes if im lucky i can get up to 3. im extremely picky about my samples though, i wont' flip a sample unless i can hear the beat in my head already or if the original song has a good vibe that i could posisbly mess around with.

usualy around 2 if im lucky..
i find if theres a really dope sample on a track on a record, there should be more than another one..just gota listen for em.

the most i think i've ever used is six records for the one beat.. generally i'll only sample a record once..

most of my tracks only use samples from vinyl-
so depending on the density,i can have 15-30 samples per track-
sampledelics are my thing:)
i picked up an oberheim matrix6 keyboard in fully working condition
at a local thrift store for five dollars last week:):):)
so-i may start using more synths in my music-we'll see!

when i get a record with lots of interesting textures/solo moments/oneshots,i can grab lots of stuff-other records may give one fill or break/loop-still others can be a dissapointing waste of time,yielding nothing at all-while some records may have no samples,but just please me to listen to over and over!

it can be quite painful listening to every dayumm second of a rod mckuen album to get nothing at all-but i got an equally painful andre popp album that has spawned 4 tracks in progress so far---

sampledelics is my shi+ too i dig that stuff , i 'm workin on a track right now i have like 6 records and im not dun yet,

sam i would like to hear some of your stuff man.

i'ma coldcut,, steinski double dee,crazy cutz,3-d type person i love all that shi+.

if you got em use them

oberheim matrix6 for 5 bucks man thats sweet what t-store i go to goodwill and thrift town but they dont have those type things there got to try st vince.

I made a beat today with one whole record, the only thing that was from another record was a kick and snare and hi hat that i just cut from somewhere else. But usually i use one, because it has its own vibe and soul. If i use 3 records then its all messed up, i can pull it off but i can really use all the samples i want too. Ya feel me?

I usually shoot for one beat per record, but If I can get more then I will..As long as I can get one beat out of it, then to me it makes it the record worth it..Unless the record is better for listening than sampling..

On average it's anywhere from 0 to infinity.
