im not hatin cuzi got a mpc but i tried it at guitar center and its not all that great. i would much rather have a motif or the new triton.

Yo I'll never leave my MPC, but it is tight. USB, cd burner, and a ton of options that my MPC dosn't have. BRAVO I didn't realize that you were snob about this ish. Lighten up. The Roland will not make me a better beatmaker and for $2,300, I'll never know. I just like the Idea of a 4000 only cheaper and more practical.

it has some nice features...but it doesnt have the same feel as the the MPC, its very rigid...not to mentions the minor timing lags i have experienced.

these crippled timing issues are only for now though, as Roland UK have admited to.

this is because its internal effects board uses much of the sequencers processing power, and clearly explians why it has slight lags on playback.

ime sure Roland will fix this as an OS update, as i own a few roland products, i trust them.

its like the Motif Rack, it still has timing issues, which Yamaha has responded to...but have not yet fixed.

at least my MPC 1000 or any mpc has these issues...

oh...just for your info guys, i have a groove box by roland too.
and again its timing is awful. plays 8-10 bars nicley and then you get a slight delay and then its normal...etc...which is not nice for studio use.

then i used logic audio & Fruityloops.

now for drums i use the mpc1000.

ime extemely happy with this lil gem.

I aint being a snob about it but hey, MV this MV that....If you used the search function you'd know that this topic has been abused and very few of us care about its rivalry to the MP.

Its good to stay in touch with whats going on around us but when it gets to the stage of us being put around the MV8000 it starts to get a little ridiculas

A friend of mine bought one. The website video says that it can read the MPC files/programs and that former MPC users will have no learning curve with this machine. WRONG! I couldn't even load a file, cd transfers were sslloooowwww, it takes almost 3 minutes just to load up, there was a slight delay from the time you hit a pad till when you actually hear the sound (not much) and loading from the HD takes a little while too. Also, I think this machine is filled with some great features, but it's juts simply trying to do too much. Try it for yourself. I played with it for 3 days (because my friend couldn't figure it out) and even with the manual, I think this machine is a piece of s#it.. it sounds great in the demo's, but getting it to perform is another thing. It completely frustrated me. Try it before you buy it, I guarentee you will think twice.

I understand that I hit a nerve, but isn't this thing the 2500? That what theyre trying to market it as. With this thing you don't need to master your ish outside of it (track right to cd). If i had the budget I would cop the 4000 anyway (LOVE AKAI PRODUCTS). I just like that the roland is a complete music production station. I need to go outboard to finish my tracks. And when your trying to bang out somthin fast, transfer files and recording one track at a time is tedious. I got my 2000xl in november so I plan onto stayin with this for a minute. It beats the piss out of my Electribe ES-1 and Yamaha SU-200 setup I was freakin for a couple of years. Technology just makes it easier to get whats in your head down to dat or cd quicker than the older tech. The AKAI will be rivaled, but if it ain't broke don't fix it. I know some kids who have the 60 II, a 2000xl, and a 1000, and essientially they all do the same things only you have to work a little harder on some. An all in one workstation will save you some loot on with a lot of the outboard gear (cd burner, Mixer (you should have a mixer anyway)) and allow you to rock idea to track in one sitting with running around transfering files and rerecording ish mad times.

I'm lookin in to getting one, I like the linear sequencing approach... realtime COSM effects and timestretching... solid (no bugs that i know of)... all in all, its a sexy beast...

save your money and get one of these for now...at least until they improve the OS on it. The CDX h as almost the same functions and it at least 1500 dollars cheaper. You can get one used for about 500 bucks.
