problem with samples + compactflash card

ok for the first time im trying to load samples into my compactflash card. i dont use the usb since my computer has a compactflash reader, so i put the compact flash in and just drag samples onto the compactflash. the sample reads that its 1.70 MB and my compact flash says it has 6.6MB in WAVE, yet when i try to load up a sample in says insufficient memory.

I already tried reformating the card and it helped a little cuz i was able to load 4 samples in it. now how the hell could i only load 4 sounds into the card and not be able to add more. how could these sounds be this huge.

has anyone had this problem when trying to load up sounds and samples?
by the way im running the original OS.

Did you check the actual sizes of the WAV files? I gues not since you did not state.

oh sorry, when i open up the sound on my computer it says the wave file is 1.7MB then when i try to load it up on the mpc it says its 3.6MB, the compact flash only being 32 MB wont really allow me to load up a lot of samples

can I ask how long (in minutes, or seconds) the files are? I just checked my MPC to see if mine did it, but the MPC said one of my snares was 64kb, and then plugged into my computer and it said the same thing. I'm running OS 1.03, by the way, but I never had problem storing samples before I upgraded. peace

the largest one is about 4 seconds but i wanted to chop it up and just use this one sound from it. the smallest is a single snare. im just wondering why when i put the card in my mpc, the wav file is bigger.

hmm yeah 4 sec should be under a mb, even in stereo I THINK. maybe they're both wrong? Is your computer hard drive formatted NTFS, Fat32, or something? cause I remember reading somewhere that files take up different space when your hard drive is formatted differently. I don't know, I'm just shooting stuff out there. There shouldn't be that much of a difference. I hope someone here can help you. peace
