MPC2000XL power suply question.

I live in Europe and in my country we use 220v power.
The MPC I bought from germany as AC120V 60Hz~ 23W.
So my first thought was that i need a power converter to step down the power from 220v to 120v.
In the first page of the manual it says:
"...Please ensure your MPC2000XL meet the power requirements in your area.
120 VCA @ 60Hz for USA and Canada
220~240 VCA @ 50Hz for Europe
"

In page 193 in the Technical Specifications section in says:
" Power requirements - 100-240 VCA, 50/60Hz, 23W (13W whithout option)"

The power cable plug that came with the MPC is compatible.

My question is, do I need a power converter, or will the MPC automaticaly adapt to the right power supply?

the back of my mpc says 100-240v is acceptable, so i ASSUME it is a switching power supply and should work. however, if that is incorrect, you will blow the thing.

look on the back of yours, see what it says for input right by the place where you plug your power cord in and then choose for yourself. it might be a nice idea to call am usic shop in your area and ask just to be sure.

again, i THINK you would be ok, but its also just a really big thing to screw up if thats wrong. a lot of musical gear is switching because it would be too expensive i think to build two different units. i think you will be ok...the backs ays you will..but its up to you to get more concrete information if you want.

Hi! I'm from Iceland, europe and I was wondering about the same thing, so I emailed akai support and asked them about if we should get a special USA to Europe adapter or just a european computer cord he replied and asked which mpc model, so I'm waiting for a reply on that, should be here any minute, I'll let you know immediately

Ok, I think I'll not try to plug the cord directly without a converter beacause what is written in the rear panel near the power cord plug is AC120V 60Hz~ 23W.
At the moment I'm using a 220v to 120v converter and it works alright.

I just got an answer:

"The MPC2000XL does not have a switching power supply. If you have a model
from the Americas you will need an adaptor for the voltage."

so don't go plugging it into a wall without an adaptor or you'll fry it

No! I didn't tried without the adaptor. With the adaptor it works just fine.

ok good, thank god! you would be really sour after a mistake like that
