ProTools + MPC 8 bar loop

Basically I use protools and an mpc 2000xl to make my music.
ProTools= Master
Mpc= Slave

I have ProTools on an 8 bar loop
I have the mpc set to 8bars and loop turned on

I press play on protools. It is perfectly sync'd with my mpc the problem is the 1st 8bar loop is fine. Both protools and mpc are playing in time with each other.

When it comes to the 2nd 8 Bar loop the mpc will stop playing for 8bars then wont start playing until the loop starts again.

e.g. 8 bar loop both protools and mpc are playing fine.
the next 8 bar loop the mpc stops playing through out the loop and protools continues to play.
When the loop starts again the mpc starts playing with protools again.
Its like an on and of thing. Not sure if its my settings in mpc or protools but I could do with some help.

If im understanding you correctly are u sayin this.

Say that 8 bar loop is a drum, snare, and hi hat.

Are u sayin it will play the drum, snare, and hi hat but when it goes to cycle around to play that same drum, snare, and hi hat it stops on the mpc but the when it gets to the end and goes back to the beginning the drum, snare, and hi play again.

So are u sayin it plays every other cycle when looping?

Yea.. protools will continue to play... but the mpc stops until the next 8bar loop starts again.

easiest solution I can think of til you figure ou whats causng this is to copy your 8 bar loop for as many bars as you want to record...

or

just record the 8 bars and hit ctrl + D to duplicate the 8 bars as many times as you want in PT

Been doing that for a while, because annoying so I decided to start producing the easier way possible for me.. Which would be to 1st work in a loop and then take things from there. I want to get the most out of all my hardware that means use my mpc through out a song production.

Are you using Midi Beat clock or Midi Time code as your sync reference from Protools?

if youre not sure which youre using how did you sync everything up in the first place?

All I can say is my mpc is set to midi clock and recieve mmc and I press play on protools and the mpc plays which means I have synced then correctly otherwise it wouldn't work.

do this and see what happens...

Click on the MIDI tab in PT> click on MIDI Beat Clock> check Enable MIDI Beat Clock for... > check the appropriate midi device> click OK> click on the Setups tab> Peripherals> Machine Control> check Enable and select the correct midi device> click OK

On the MPC press SHIFT/9(MIDI/SYNC)> select the input you have the midi cable from the midi device connected to(1 or 2)> switch Mode: to MIDI CLOCK> switch Receive MMC: to ON

Make sure to set the tempo in PT to the same tempo as the sequence in the MPC

Ive solved the problem. I only get this loop problem when I use midiclock on both the mpc and protools. When I disable midiclock on protools and use MTC instead and also use mtc and recieve mmc on the mpc it works fine and I dont get any loop issues.

Dont know if anyone else has experienced this but thats how I solved the issue anyway.
